Privacy Policy
Ilminar is in beta. This policy describes what we actually do today. We do not claim to be GDPR or CCPA “compliant”; the rights described below are the specific rights we honor today.
Scope of this policy
This policy covers Ilminar as a whole: this marketing site and the application you sign up for and ask questions on.
Information we collect
- Account information.
- Email address and password. Name and a profile picture are optional.
- Your questions and conversations.
- The questions you ask, the answers given, and the conversation thread, so you can return to it later.
- Feedback.
- A star rating and optional comment, on an answer in the app or through the feedback widget on this site.
- Usage and billing information.
- Which tier your account is on (Free or Pro) and your usage within the current window. Pro payment is handled by Stripe; we do not see or store your card details.
- Messages you send us.
- If you contact us through the Help page: your name, email, and message.
- Site visit data.
- Aggregate, cookie-free traffic data via Cloudflare Web Analytics on this marketing site. See Cookies and analytics below.
How your question is processed
Your question is matched against scholar lecture transcripts using Voyage AI (for embeddings used in retrieval) and answered using OpenAI (for generating the response and for screening the question for harmful content before it's processed). Your account and content data is stored with Supabase. We do not use your questions to train any model ourselves, and have no visibility into whether Voyage AI or OpenAI do.
Heightened care for sensitive content
Questions, feedback, and messages will often touch on religious belief or practice. We do not use that content to build an advertising profile of you, and do not share it beyond what is needed to operate the service and respond to you.
Why we collect this information
To operate the service: answer your questions, let you revisit past conversations, apply usage and billing correctly, and respond to feedback and messages. We do not sell this information, and do not use it for advertising.
Retention
Conversations are kept indefinitely by design, so you can look back at anything you've asked. You can request deletion of your account and its data at any time through the Help page; we handle deletion requests manually. Contact messages and site feedback are kept only as long as needed to act on them.
Sub-processors
Supabase (accounts and data storage), OpenAI (answer generation, content safety screening), Voyage AI (retrieval embeddings), Stripe (Pro subscription payments), Formspree (this site's contact and feedback forms), Resend (account and transactional email), Netlify (application hosting), and Cloudflare (hosting for this site and the analytics described below).
Your rights
You can ask us what we have on file, ask us to delete it, or ask for a copy of it, through our Help page.
Children's privacy
Ilminar is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
International users
Ilminar is operated from the United Kingdom by Awab Akram, an individual developer. Your information is stored and processed by the providers listed above, which operate infrastructure in the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States. By using Ilminar you accept that your information will be transferred to and processed in those countries.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us. We do not hold any specific security certification today.
Changes to this policy
As Ilminar moves out of beta, this policy will change. We will update the date at the top of this page whenever it does.
