Terms of Service

Ilminar is in beta. These terms cover the marketing site and the application together, and describe how the service works today. They will be updated as the product changes.

Acceptance of these terms

By using Ilminar (this site or the application) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

The service, and that it's a beta

Ilminar searches scholar lectures using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and surfaces cited answers, linked to the moment a scholar spoke. Ilminar is in active beta. Features, answer accuracy, and availability may change without notice as the product develops.

Accounts

You need an account to ask questions. Keep your credentials secure. You're responsible for activity on your account. Give us accurate information when you sign up. One account per person; don't create accounts to evade usage limits.

Not a fatwa, not a substitute for a scholar

Ilminar retrieves and cites what a scholar said in a recorded lecture. It does not issue fatwas, does not generate independent religious rulings, and does not endorse any single school of thought. A cited answer is a starting point for your own research, not a substitute for direct guidance from a qualified scholar, especially for matters that are personal, unusual, or consequential.

AI-generated answers

Answers are composed by a third-party AI provider from the lecture passage Ilminar retrieves. See our Privacy Policy for how that works. We do not guarantee an AI-composed answer perfectly represents the scholar's meaning; always verify against the linked source before relying on it.

Your use of the service

Use Ilminar for its intended purpose: finding and verifying what a scholar said. Don't misuse the service, attempt to disrupt or scrape it, circumvent usage limits, or use it to misrepresent a scholar's words.

Pricing and billing

A Free tier and a Pro tier are described on our pricing page. Free accounts have a monthly question allowance, and its size is still being adjusted during beta. Pro is £9.99 a month, billed monthly through Stripe, and you can cancel at any time; access runs to the end of the month you have paid for. Pro billing may not yet be active for all users during early beta, and where it isn't, no payment is being charged for Pro access in the meantime. The Pro price is not locked in and may change before Ilminar launches publicly.

Feedback and content you submit

You retain ownership of questions, feedback, and messages you submit. By submitting them, you allow us to process them as needed to operate and improve the service, including sending question text to the third-party AI providers described in our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual property

The Ilminar name, mark, and product are ours. Scholar lectures indexed by Ilminar remain the property of their respective speakers and rights holders; Ilminar surfaces citations and links back to the source, it does not claim ownership of the underlying lectures.

If you are a speaker or rights holder and you want your lectures corrected or removed from Ilminar, tell us through the Help page and say which lectures. Saying that the recordings stay yours means little without a way to act on it, so this is that way.

No warranty

Ilminar is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that any answer is complete, current, or free of error. Always verify by listening to the cited source yourself.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ilminar is not liable for decisions made in reliance on an answer the product surfaces. You are responsible for verifying anything you act on, religious or otherwise.

Termination

You may stop using Ilminar and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or end access to the service, with or without notice, particularly during this beta period.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere and local consumer law gives you rights that this cannot override, those rights still apply to you.

Changes to these terms

As Ilminar moves out of beta, particularly once Pro billing is fully active, these terms will be updated, and the date at the top of this page will change.
